ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- A day after the Anaheim Ducks wrapped up the most impressive regular season in franchise history, they were eager to forget all about it.

The Ducks realize their impressive record and Pacific Division title won't matter much to the Detroit Red Wings, who had to scramble just to make the postseason while Anaheim only needed to coast. That's why Detroit is a fashionable pick for a first-round upset - and why the Ducks are eager to prove they belong in their spot atop the standings.

''We can use it as fuel,'' Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf said after practice Monday. ''It's something that you've got to go out and prove and earn, and winning in the playoffs is how you earn everything in this league. Anyone can win during the regular season. It's this time of year that you've got to prove yourself.''

Game 1 is Tuesday night at Honda Center.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Teemu Selanne was skating slightly backward when he decided he could still beat Jimmy Howard. He received a pass and instantly flung a pinpoint wrist shot at the net, finding a small opening behind the Detroit goalie.
The 42-year-old Finnish Flash's talents are pretty much timeless, and his timely goal got the Anaheim Ducks off to a solid playoff start.

Red Wings blow 3-goal lead, beat Ducks 5-4 in OT

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Detroit coach Mike Babcock didn't call a timeout while the Anaheim Ducks obliterated the Red Wings' three-goal lead in the third period, believing a break would only make his younger players even more nervous.

Better to let them learn how to survive playoff pressure on their own, Babcock thought.

With help from an ill-timed penalty by Anaheim's Sheldon Souray, the Red Wings figured it out and evened the series.

Gustav Nyquist scored a power-play goal at 1:21 of overtime, giving Detroit a 5-4 victory in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Johan Franzen scored two goals and Damien Brunner had his first Stanley Cup playoff goal and two assists for the Red Wings, who survived their third-period collapse with a timely goal from Nyquist.
