nets probably fired him because their team was going good at first (i thought they could make playoffs) and now they are 14-14

He had a short leash to begin with. The Nets sucked for the last whatever years. [Avery] Johnson was supposed to turn it around with players like a healthy Deron Williams and newly acquired [Joe] Johnson. While the Nets could still easily make the playoffs, all in all, this move doesn't surprise me much.
As for the interim: PJ Carlesimo, former Seton Hall basketball coach, nicknamed Coach of the Century for the Pirates team. Was an assistant coach for the US national team sometime in the 90s. Time will tell if the Nets will search out a replacement.

I think this was a bad decision on their part. Avery Johnson had potential and his system worked well with most if not all of the players.
