    When new Edmonton Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins starts training camp in the fall, prospect Teemu Hartikainen may not be on the ice.

    According to Craig Custance of ESPN The Magazine, Hartikainen is headed to Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League.

    Hartikainen, who is slated to become a restricted free agent next month, had one goal and two assists for three points in 23 games with the Oilers this season.

    He was drafted by the Oilers in the sixth round (163rd overall) in 2008.

    This is really unfortunate... Harty is the kind of player that we lack and the kind of player that we need. He's big and uses his size effectively. He's developed nicely in the AHL to be a solid bottom 6 player if given the chance. I really think he would have gotten it, he seems to be type of player MacTavish is looking for.

    Good luck being coached by Keenan.

    This is not the best move for Edmonton's future, however, they are still stocked with young talent. The list goes on and on;

    Hall
    Gagner
    Eberle
    Nugent-Hopkins
    Yakupov
    Paajarvi
    Whoever they pick this year

    It's one year, so it could just be another development stint for Harty. We have lots of young talent, but only Paajarvi brings what Hartikainen offers.

    As long as we keep his RFA rights, I hope he at least benefits from the KHL.
