    Russell Westbrook Out

Post by shazi453 on Fri Apr 26, 2013 5:25 pm

Russell westbrook will undergo a surgery to repair his knee. He will not play game 3 or 4 of the rockets, and most likely not the entire postseason.

Some say this is awesome, because Westbrook is being accused of "holding Kevin Durant back". Meanwhile, people like me say it is another bad thing to add to our player losses this season. Durant must be a good night every night. When KD doesn't have a good game, Westbrook has always been the backup bro.

    So, what are your thoughtS?

This makes the Grizzlies/Clippers winner an actual test for the Thunder. I do see OKC pulling out of the HOU series with a win.

The thunder's energy will decrease somewhat, since Westbrook is our guy that keeps the pace up. From a thunder fan, I go admit he does take quite a bit of shots. Kevin Durant will have no choice but take up scoring, while Kevin Martin could accompany him. Serge can still make around 10-16 points per game, along with 3+ blocks. Thabo is a great 3 shooter, and perkins rebounding everything.
But it all revolves around this- if Durant has a bad night, its going to be a rough night.

Kevin Durant should be able to handle Houston still. Oklahoma City and Houston aren't really even on the same level, no matter how good James Harden is. I was watching ESPN the other day and they were talking about how Oklahoma City and Houston are teams that are very similar. They seem to do a lot of things the same way. Oklahoma City just does these things way better. I don't think they are the Western Conference favorite anymore. I think the Spurs and the Clippers are both better than Oklahoma City without Westbrook. Kevin Durant is going to have to do a lot more, and you can't expect him to be amazing in every game. That could be trouble for Oklahoma City. At the start of the playoffs, I said the same thing about the Knicks. The Knicks are a really good team that could win the NBA Finals if Carmelo Anthony is scoring 40+ points a game, but you can't expect your scorer to do that in every game. If the scorer goes cold, you're screwed.

Do you think, by any chance, Westbrook is going to be back early? I mean, depending on the severity of the injury. Metta world peace was supposed to be out for 6 weeks, but came back after 12 days. Assuming he gets in surgery today and comes back 12 days laters, he could return around may 7th-10th.

Yeah, I was thinking that, but I feel like Metta World Peace ended up being a special situation. I remember posting a topic about Metta World Peace's injury, and they were originally saying he would be out like six weeks, and he ended up being out less than two weeks. Something that should be noted is that Metta World Peace definitely wasn't 100% when he first returned after 12 days.

Currently, KD is on fire with 17 points in first quarter! If Westbrook was in, we may have been in the 40s right now

Opposed greatly to Scott Brooks overplaying Durant. He and the thunder had a monster first half, but what happned in the 2nd half???? Since he's the leader, I think he needs to shoot more.

Kevin Durant scored 41 points and the Thunder still barely won.

Shows how crucial RW0 is to the Thunder's success.

He kept taking shots at the end of each quarter, so the Rockets quickly overcame a 26 point lead by the thunder.
